A 40-year-old Arizona woman was arrested early Wednesday morning for violating the rules and orders of the travel quarantine, police said.
Peggy Gomez arrived on Maui from Phoenix and did not have a negative pre-travel COVID-19 test from an approved facility nor approved lodging to complete the mandatory 10-day travel quarantine.
She was ordered to quarantine and arrangements were made at a Kahului hotel for her to complete the quarantine.
Gomez reportedly left her hotel room multiple times, police said. She was found within the lobby area of the hotel when police arrived.
Gomez was transported to the Wailuku Police Station for processing. She then volunteered to leave Maui and fly to Texas, police said.
