DigiTravel and partners launch hotel programme analysis tool


DigiTravel Consulting, Business Travel Performance
Automation and About Partners Luxury Brands Collection have joined forces to
create a new tool to assess corporate hotel programmes and improve upon the
annual hotel request-for-proposal process, DigiTravel announced.

Dubbed Hotel Program Opportunity Analysis, the service is
available for free globally.

“The Opportunity Analysis has been carefully designed
by real industry experience to outline value and savings for companies and
hotels without going through the cumbersome RFP process every year, driving
continuous improvement, innovative services and smarter sourcing,” said
DigiTravel managing partner Susan Lichtenstein in a statement.

Lichtenstein explained in an email how it works; after a
company fills out a questionnaire on the DigiTravel website, the three partners
use their expertise along with technology, including the BTP Index, to review
the data and present back to the company opportunities in the area of savings,
cost to manage, booking channels, sourcing, benchmarking, process optimisation
and procurement.

“There’s a lot of confusion in hotel procurement right
now,” said BTP CEO Bruce Yoxsimer in a statement. “Unless you really
have your arms around your position as a buyer, it’s very difficult to build a
programme that supports your goals as an organisation. Our goal as partners is
to provide a clear path forward for companies as travel ramps back up.
Data-driven analytics, automation of manual processes and continuous sourcing
is the key.”

DigiTravel specialises in the business travel market.
Newcomer BTP partnered with Traxo earlier in 2021 to create a hotel programme
automation and performance platform to analyse both in-channel and off-channel
hotel bookings. About Partners represents independent hotels and serviced
apartments and formed an alliance with DigiTravel in November 2020.

Neom partners with UNWTO to drive Saudi tourism growth | News


The United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and Neom have partnered for a new initiative focused on the future of tourism in Saudi Arabia.

The Tourism Experiences of the Future challenge will source innovative ideas and disruptive business models related to the tourism needs of the future, in line with growing demand for new experiences.

All proposals must be aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, the UNWTO said, and should include the introduction or adaptation of digital and technological elements.

They will be focused on at least one of the following areas:

  • Optimising and maximising the potential of experiential tourism.
  • Harnessing the positive impact of new technology.
  • Alternative business models.
  • Innovative experiences.

The competition is the first national initiative dedicated to identifying new companies that will lead the tourism sector’s transformation in Saudi Arabia.

As well as established businesses, the competition also welcomes applications from Saudi Arabian start-ups and innovators with ideas capable of revolutionising and inspiring tourists by presenting new ways and reasons to travel.

Applications are open until October 24th, with great interest expected, and participants must be Saudi citizens with legal capacity to enter into a contract.

Successful projects will be selected based on various criteria, such as the degree of innovation, their viability and sustainability.

An affiliate member of UNWTO since 2019, Neom is located in north-west Saudi Arabia along the Red Sea.

SYNLAB, IATA partners facilitate safe and easy travel


Geneva / Munich, August 11 (ANI): Europe’s leading medical diagnostic service provider SYNLAB and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have announced a partnership to facilitate safe and easy travel.

The two partners signed an agreement on Wednesday to incorporate SYNLAB’s extensive lab network into the IATA Travel Pass.

This will give airline passengers access to SYNLAB’s extensive and secure Covid-19 test service, benefiting from SYNLAB’s international capabilities. SYNLAB and IATA build on valuable experience gained during the successful pilot project of passenger testing in Colombia over the past few months.

The IATA Travel Pass allows passengers to find a licensed laboratory at the point of departure and be tested for SARS-CoV-2 at the request of national borders and health authorities.

After testing, SYNLAB will provide passengers with certified test results directly through the IATA Travel Pass. The app matches the results with the IATA Travel Path Registry for domestic entry requirements and generates an “OK to Travel” status.

Through the app, passengers can share their status and digital test certificates with authorities and airlines to facilitate travel.

Willy Walsh, IATA Executive Director, said the validated Covid-19 test is important for restoring travel freedom for unvaccinated people.

The IATA Travel Pass aims to make it as easy as possible for travelers to find accredited laboratories so that governments can safely receive the test results they need to enter the country.

“By adding SYNLAB’s extensive lab network, travelers can more easily meet Covid-19’s travel requirements,” he said.

SYNLAB has a network of over 450 medical laboratories and over 1,600 sampling points in 36 countries. (ANI)

Recently, Tripadvisor announced that it had signed its first
three hotel groups to its subscription service, Tripadvisor Plus:

these three groups represent an additional 500 new hotels for the
service, Tripadvisor Plus has yet to convince any major supplier to
join the service. Tripadvisor claims it continues to have many
“positive conversations” with major suppliers about the
service, though, at least publicly, nothing has yet come from those
“conversations.” Until then, Tripadvisor will have to
continue relying on rates and inventory sourced from other
intermediaries like Trip.com, Getaroom and Internova. Suppliers
wishing to avoid the new subscription service will need to remain
vigilant in their efforts to monitor and possibly curtail the
onward distribution practices of these (and other) existing
distribution partners.

new revenue streams for Booking. According to Marovitz, elements of
the new business are already being piloted across the Booking
Holdings’ portfolio of companies. We will continue to watch how

to the new unit – and, ultimately, should suppliers waiver in their
support of the new unit and its tools, how Booking forces
suppliers’ use of the tools by conditioning participation in

Singapore Airlines partners with Hayman’s for new gin

Singapore Airlines and London family gin distiller, Hayman’s, have partnered to launch a commemorative gin.

The drink will celebrate the airline’s 50th anniversary of flying between London and Singapore.

Starting from three weekly London flights in 1971, Singapore Airlines has steadily increased its presence and strengthened its long relationship with the UK.

To further celebrate the golden anniversary and milestone of continuous flights between London and Singapore, the Airline has collaborated with Hayman’s to launch Singapore Airlines – Connoisseur Dry Gin.

The bottle fuses Hayman’s renowned London Dry Gin with the Asian flavours of kumquat, lemongrass, galangal and Persian lime.

The four natural botanicals were chosen to invoke the familiar and exotic citrus flavours synonymous with large parts of Singapore Airlines’ heartland, south-east Asia.

Hand-made and small batch distilled using Hayman’s traditional two-day distillation process, the four Asian botanicals are distilled at the same time as the ten botanicals which already feature in Hayman’s 150-year-old family London Dry Gin recipe.

The 100 per cent English wheat spirit is infused with the botanicals for an entire day for maximum flavour development. The result is a gin that will retain its appeal to fans of the traditional London Dry style but with a delicate southeast Asian twist, perfect for inspiring future travel.

Mohamed Rafi Mar, general manager UK & Ireland, Singapore Airlines, commented: “Singapore Airlines is excited to be partnering with the city’s foremost family distillers to celebrate 50 years of flying from London to Singapore.

Acomodeo Partners with Booking.com | Business Travel News


Frankfurt, Germany-based serviced-apartment provider Acomodeo has partnered with Booking.com to add shorter-term lodging options to its platform for corporate travelers, Acomodeo announced. The partnership allows Acomodeo to offer a broader range of accommodation types, combining 29 million short-stay listings in 206 countries with more than 761,000 serviced apartments in 162 countries, according to the company. 

“Combining long- and short-stay business accommodation in one single unique platform, we are following the idea to provide quality accommodations from one night up to two years,” said Acomodeo CEO and founder Eric-Jan Krausch.

In March, Acomodeo integrated with Concur Travel.

TravelPerk Partners to Offer to Divvy Clients Travel Services


TravelPerk will provide travel booking and management services for U.S. clients of small and midsize business and expense specialist Divvy under a new partnership between the companies. 

The newly launched Divvy Travel, powered by TravelPerk, will enable Divvy clients to access TravelPerk’s full platform, including its air, hotel and ground booking tool, along with traveler support, reporting and features such as the TravelCare risk management tool and FlexiPerk cancelation refund service. 

Those travel services can be integrated with Divvy’s own spending and expense tools, including its virtual card solution, to offer clients an integrated payment and booking model offering greater visibility into and control over corporate travel spending, the companies said.

Divvy customers would pay $15 per trip to access the full gamut of TravelPerk services, according to Divvy. Meanwhile, TravelPerk’s Premium and Pro customers, conversely, can access Divvy’s spend management solution at no additional cost.

Divvy in late 2018 struck a similar partnership with TripActions to offer travel services to Divvy’s clients, but the companies no longer have a relationship, according to Divvy. 

While TripActions and other tech-centric travel management providers have expanded into offering their own payment and expense services in recent years, Barcelona-based TravelPerk prefers to take a partnership-based approach, integrating its travel platform with third-party payment and expense specialists, according to company leaders

TravelPerk in April closed a $160 million investment round, three months after expanding its U.S. presence significantly by acquiring travel management provider NexTravel.
