Six people arrested after reports of a morning disturbance in Wallsend street
Six people have been arrested after reports of a dispute in Wallsend.
Police received a report of a disturbance on Blackhill Avenue at around 9.50am on Saturday morning.
It was reported that two groups were involved in a dispute and could have possibly been in possession of weapons.
Officers arrived at the scene where five men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of affray.
They all remain in police custody.
There were no reports of anyone who was injured and all parties involved are known to each other.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At 9.50am today (Saturday) we received a report of a disturbance on Blackhill Avenue, Wallsend.
“It was reported that two groups were involved in a dispute and may be in possession of weapons.
“Officers were deployed to the scene and six people – five males and one female – have all since been arrested on suspicion of affray. They remain in police custody at this time.
“Nobody has been reported as injured and all parties involved were known to each other. There is no wider threat to the public but officers remain in the area to carry out enquiries.
