Durham menace threatened to kill ex weeks after being banned from contacting her
A menace who threatened to kill his ex and turned up at her home in breach of a restraining order just weeks after it was imposed has been spared prison.
Curtis Hughes had barged into his former partner’s home last June, pinned her down and told her “I want you to die” then went back a few weeks later and smashed her window before grabbing her by the throat.
Hughes, 21, was given a restraining order and was banned from attending her address in Hetton-le-Hole, Sunderland, when he appeared in court on October 6.
But in a phone call just weeks later, on November 3, Hughes told the victim, who is the mother of his child: “When I see you I’m going to kill you”.
