Heartbreak as Gosforth dad-of-three has brain tumour relapse after 10 years
Family have rallied round a Gosforth dad-of-three as he faces chemotherapy ten years after he was hit by a brain tumour.
Consultant anaesthetist Andy Kilner’s world changed forever back in 2011, when he had a fit while travelling back from a conference in Sunderland.
Medics discovered Andy, who worked at the Freeman Hospital, was suffering from an astrocytoma brain tumour.
Surgery and radiotherapy were able to reduce the size of the tumour, and although he was forced to give up work due to his ill-health, the treatment bought Andy more time with beloved wife Jo and his now-adult daughters Becky, Katie and Ellie.
