Canadiens winger Joel Armia did not practice on Sunday and will not travel with the team to Tampa as the Stanley Cup Final begins due to the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol. General manager Marc Bergevin said there will be an update Monday.
Armia was previously on the COVID-19 list in late March alongside teammate Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and the Canadiens had four games postponed.
Armia, 28, has played in all of Montreal’s playoff games thus far, scoring five goals and tallying three assists over 17 games.
“It’s not ideal. It’s something we’ve been kind of dealing all year, guys going out to the COVID protocol,” defenseman Ben Chiarot said. “Army is obviously an important player for us. It’s just another piece of adversity that we’ll have to deal with.”
Game 1 is scheduled for Monday at 8 p.m. ET.
This is a developing story. More to come.
